What do you get when you mix fashion with interiors?
Legendary British fashion designer responsible for bringing modern punk into the mainstream (and born-again environmentalist) Dame Vivienne Westwood has paired up with Cole & Son to launch a collection of wallpaper based on some of her most celebrated designs. This includes the iconic Squiggle print from her Autumn/Winter 1981-82 collection and the more recent Cut-Out Lace from the Spring/Summer 2007 collection.
This collaboration between Westwood and the historic wallpaper manufacturer fashioned an array of dresses from decorative swatches, cleverly bringing the designs full circle from three dimensions to two dimensions and back again.

The Grande Dame of British fashion, known for her rebellious style and outrageous outfits, is the creator of the the nine-inch-heeled shoes like the ones worn by supermodel Naomi Campbell when she fell during a Westwood fashion show in Paris in 1994.

Sex and the City – Carrie’s wedding dress:
Westwood’s designs were featured in the 2008 film adaptation of the award winning television series Sex and the City. In the movie Carrie Bradshaw models the champagne silk creation for a Vogue shoot then, back in her flat, tears open a package to find the gown, with a note from Westwood saying: “This dress belongs to you.
However, Dame Vivienne was unimpressed with the wardrobe choices of the movie’s stylist, Patricia Field and walked out of the premier saying: “I thought Sex And The City was supposed to be about cutting-edge fashion – there was nothing remotely memorable or interesting about what I saw. I went to the premiere and left after 10 minutes.”
The wedding dress has become widely recognized as one of the movie’s most iconic features. Fashion website Net-a-Porter introduced a knee-length version which sold out within hours.
After Carrie Bradshaw wore the famous gowns for her ill-fated wedding, sales of Westwood labels rose to 17.6million. The movie connection has led to a growing American following, contributing to Westwood’s decision to open a store in Los Angeles. She received a further boost when Kim Cattrall (below) turned up at premieres on both sides of the Atlantic in Westwood gowns: a geometric silver design in New York and a red off-the-shoulder dress in London.

Kim Cattrall made sure she wasn’t going to be overlooked in the line-up and chose a scarlet hot off-the-shoulder taffeta dress by Vivienne Westwood, London Premier
Sarah Jessica Parker opted for a tiered floral Vivienne Westwood dress. She looked stunning.
