Euphoria and lightness of furniture: a consideration which is centered around our relationship to the environment, the need to remember and to experience movement in nature. Metaphorical objects that are useful and beautiful for a new habitat. A unique relationship with space and movement within the contemporary living space.
Livingstones are a modular seating concept developed by French designer Stephanie Marin that is both practical and poetic. With their odd yet natural shapes, her projects are a link between art and interior design. The project revolves around our relationship to nature, to our need to find and bring elements of Nature into our interior atmosphere.
Born in 1973 in Marseille, Stephanie Marin lives in Nice. Her universe is natural, nonconformist and playful.
Smarin has presented Stéphanie Marin’s creations since 2004, and each year it offers a family of objects in which each element is used independently or together: soft forms and simple lines that match each other and overlap to infinity.
An independent design philosophy, responsible eco-development design, and 100% French production: in the workshop in Nice craftsmanlike know-how and creative exuberance are combined, and we see the birth of top-of-the-range production where added value means innovation and quality.

Curl up amongst those pebbles! They look amazing and so, so comfy!
Available as floor cushions, pouffes, and sofas, Livingstones are formed around a structure of Bultex foam rubber and covered in 100% virgin wool or polar fleece in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and colors. An indoor/outdoor version is available in neoprene.
In addition to Livingstones, the company also makes a line of modular curtains called Mobile Shadows.
These whimsical clouds available in silk or linen can be used as a window covering, partition wall, or art installation. They come in seven sizes with an adjustable cable and magnet system that can be fixed anywhere on the shape.
Livingstones and Mobile Shadows are widely available in Europe, but there are a few distributors in the U.S. Check her web site for details: www.smarin.net
