Wool design made Italy

After graduating as a showcase designer and many successful years as a restaurant and as an event manager, Jutta Taute decided to fulfil herself a long-lasting wish and moved from Germany to Italy. By renovating and rebuilding an old farmhouse in the roman landscape the designer made the first step for creating MALDIMAGLIA*´s headquarter and studio.

Merino wool as the ideal medium

In 2002 Jutta Taute made a rather random first contact with the now base material, merino wool. It was “love at first sight” – colours, composition and the almost unlimited possibilities of this precious and unbelievably flexible material made an impressive impact.

Therefore the extra fine merino wool became the perfect and multi-purpose basis for her artistic talent and experimental needs.

In 2004 the brand MALDIMAGLIA* (which is Italian and could be translated as “desire for wool”) was founded.

In 2006 and 2007 MALDIMAGLIA* was represented at the internationally known trade fair of Frankfurt “Tendence Lifestyle”. The brand became available with its creative products in various shops and boutiques in Europe such as Munich/Freising, Offenburg, Freiburg, Mainz, Berlin and Rome.

Today Jutta Taute works with various Italian workshops and studios. However the composition and development of the products is always her ambition - every bag, every blanket, every cushion is and remains unique.
